Epithalon increases telomerase activity and telomere elongation in human cells. A study shows to induce a 33% increase in telomere elongation which is directly involved in the aging process. There was a human trial done over a 12-year 9 period with patients treated with Epithalon and a placebo group. What are Telomeres?

Telomeres are the caps at the end of each strand of DNA that protect our chromosomes, like the plastic tips at the end of shoelaces. They protect the end of the chromosome from deterioration or from fusion with neighboring chromosomes. Telomerase (a.k.a. telomere terminal transferase) is the enzyme capable of elongating telomeres while protecting the DNA from the damage caused by aging. What Causes Hair Loss?

Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is a condition caused by the disruption of the body’s cycle of hair production. The scalp has over 100,000 hairs that cycle through periods of growing, resting, falling out, and regenerating.

A hair follicle growth cycle consists of three phases. During the anagen phase, which can last for years, hair grows robustly.  During the catagen phase, which lasts about ten days, hair stops growing and separates from its follicle.  During the telogen phase, the follicle rests for two or three months, and then the hair falls out. Shortly afterward, a new anagen phase begins as a new hair grows in the same follicle. Most people normally lose between  50 to 100 hairs per day.

Hair may begin to fall out more quickly than it is regenerated, leading to symptoms such as a receding hairline, hair falling out in patches, or overall thinning if the hair growth cycle is disrupted, or a hair follicle is damaged.

There are many reasons for hair loss in men and women.  Common causes include hormone imbalances, hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, iron anemia, protein deficiency, rapid weight loss, low vitamin D levels, B vitamin deficiencies, autoimmune diseases Celiac Disease, stress, inflammation, fungal injections, prescription drugs, chemotherapy, radiation, hair braiding, and chemical hair treatments.  Hair loss can occur at any age but is most likely around age 40 when the body’s hormone levels began to decline. Most Common Type of Hair Loss

Androgenic Alopecia

Androgenetic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss, affecting more than 50 million men and 30 million women in America.  It affects many people at some point in their lives and can occur as early as late teens or early twenties.  It is caused when enzymes in the body convert testosterone into a metabolite which has the effect of shrinking the hair follicles. Androgenetic alopecia can be passed down through the genes on either the paternal or maternal side.

Male Pattern Baldness

About two out of three men experience hair loss by age 60, and most of the time it’s due to male pattern baldness. This type of hair loss, caused by a combo of genes and male sex hormones, usually follows a classic pattern in which the hair recedes at the temples, leaving an M-shaped hairline. In men, hair loss can begin any time after puberty and progress over the course of years or decades. It starts above the temples and continues around the perimeter and the top of the head, often leaving a ring of hair along the bottom of the scalp. Many men with male pattern hair loss eventually become bald.

PRP  Hair loss Treatment

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP Therapy) is derived by extracting blood during a venous blood drawn and then using special technology to spin and separate the blood into a platelet-rich plasma layer. PRP which contains growth factors is injected into the scalp using a very small needle that stimulates the growth and rejuvenation of new cells by waking up dormant hair follicles.  PRP therapy has been used for other medical conditions with great success and is now being used for hair rejuvenation and restoration. Vaginal Dryness and Pain
Vaginal dryness is a common symptom of menopause and it affects one in three of menopausal women. It ranks in the top ten common problems occurring during menopause. However, vaginal dryness can occur at any age. The lack of vaginal moisture can greatly impact a woman’s sex life, self-confidence, and relationships. Decrease vaginal moisture can also make women more prone to vaginal yeast, bacterial and viral infections.

Vaginal Dryness and Estrogen Production
Estrogens are primarily made by the ovaries but are also produced by the cervix (uterus) and then released into the vaginal tissues. Before menopause, the vagina and skin and tissues around the vagina are kept supple, thick and moist by fluids and mucus released by cervical glands under the influence of estrogen. Estrogen also stimulates vaginal cells to produce glycogen. Glycogen is a substance that supports the growth of beneficial bacteria, which protect the vagina from infections.

Most women begin menopause between the ages of 45 and 55, but it can occur earlier or later in life. The ovaries make less estrogen after menopause. What causes vaginal dryness?
The best way to combat vaginal dryness is to understand its causes and treatment options. The vaginal wall is kept moist and thick under the influence of estrogen. Estrogen levels drop during menopause, which may lead to vaginal thinning, unpleasant order, bladder problems, painful intercourse, discomfort during activities, and decrease vaginal moisture and elasticity. Other causes the can lead to decreased estrogen production include childbirth, breastfeeding, radiation, chemotherapy, anti-estrogen medications and the surgical removal of ovaries. Lack of or inadequate foreplay before sex, chronic sex, prolonged tampon use, endometriosis, and Sjogrens Syndrome. Cold and allergy medications, ulcer drugs, birth control pills, anti-depressants, anti-hypertensive medications can lead to decreased vaginal moisture. Avoid using douches, bubble baths, scented soaps, fragrances and lotions around the sensitive vaginal area, which can worsen dryness.

How is vaginal dryness treated?
The most common treatment for vaginal dryness due to low estrogen levels is topical estrogen therapy. You can get relief without taking large amounts of estrogen orally. Locally applied bio-identical estrogens are considered a much safer option than oral hormone therapy since most of them allow only minimal amounts of estrogen to enter into your circulation. Understanding Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

An early report that PRP may be useful in appeared in a paper published in Urology in 2003 mentioning that, in animal models, using blood-derived growth factors injected successfully treated erectile dysfunction and also mentioned that such a strategy may be feasible in men— actually providing a way to correct the underlying pathology (1). In contrast, to ED drugs that do not correct the underlying pathology of decreased penile circulation.*
